Magnetic Island

I talked about Captain Cook naming Cape Tribulation earlier. He also named Magnetic Island, a small island near Townsville.

When I first heard about the island and how pretty it was from other tourists, I thought there was some magnetic charisma there, that's why someone named it as Magnetic Island.

But in fact the name was thanks to Captain Cook again.

When he drew near the island, the compass on his ship didn't work and he thought the island had some magnetic substance. Well, nothing romantic about the name of island, as I first thought.

But I had a walk on the beach under the moonlight tonight. We've to make our own romance.

  1. Might be the island has a high content of the mineral magnetite?

I hope you enjoy your romance on the beach >:)

  3. The island has a lot of big boulders and I heard they are granite. Perhaps that's the reason. We found a great place to watch sunset on our last day. Really romantic.
