I seem to have gone on and on in my blog about Mr. Darcy most of the time. I think it's time to talk about Miss Elizabeth Bennet.
I've read over 1000 Pride and Prejudice what-if stories. Nearly every angle about her has been explored.
There are cases with her accepting Mr. Darcy's proposal at Hunsford because her father is ill, or because Charlotte advises her to be more prudent; or because she learns about the truth of Mr. Wickham before the disastrous proposal.
But of course Jane Austen’s version is what we love most. Elizabeth is truly an obstinate headstrong girl who holds the idea of love above everything else.
This is a quality we common admire in modern society but a rarity in the past. Without such a strong heroine, Mr. Darcy may not be as attractive as he is.
