What do you do when you have insomnia?
I'm very sensitive to noise and I live in a college student area. So when the students party or return after a night out, I often wake up in the wee hour of the morning and can't go back to sleep.
Then I will try to do the following:
- Get online and read newspapers
- Read stories and blog posts
- Chat with European friends if they are online
Pity my brain is normally too tired to work. Otherwise, I could have finished many epic stories during those hours.

I live in a student area too, 2 mins walk from campus and 3 mins from the students society.
ReplyDeleteAt 2:30 am every Firday and Saturday, lots of noisy students are walking by our house on the way back home from party. Fortunately, I'm a night owl, and like to stay up late (and sleep long in the morning). So, my solution is to stay up till the student-noise is over.
I think it's nice to have the students around, reminds me of my own univerity days. Usually, I go to the students society myself when they have black metal concerts or other extreme metal, meet a lot of nice people and have a good time >:)
Many condolences on the insomnia--I empathize and sympathize! Luckily I now live in quiet suburbia and only have insomnia occasionally. But when I do, I get so angry and being too brain dead to write!
ReplyDeleteI definitely have to adjust my lifestyle around the students. But unfortunately I have a day job. Yes, my writing maybe suffering.
