"It appears to me that more people are sitting in cafes smoking cigarettes and drinking coffee than working out ... the French don't see fitness as a lifestyle," says American-born fitness consultant Fred Hoffman, who has lived in Paris for 21 years.
Only 5.4 per cent of French people belonged to a health club in 2008, according to the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association, compared with 9.5 per cent for Italy, 11.9 per cent for the United Kingdom and 16.6 per cent for Spain.
I agree. I prefer tennis and walking than work out in the gym. I like the fresh air and admiring the changing colours of the trees, flowers and sky. What's your preference for staying fit?

I prefer outdoor activities, like skiing and hiking, rather than the gym. When it comes to indoor activities, I prefer ... yes, you know what i mean >;)

Hehe, I like outdoor sports, tennis, hiking...and indoor one too.
ReplyDeleteMy husband keeps fit by working outside around the house. Every spare moment, he'll head out and work on a huge project he's doing in the back yard.
ReplyDeleteHanging out with sweaty people never made me feel physically fit, so count me out as far as the gym goes. Gardening in the summer, snowshoeing in the winter for me.
ReplyDeleteYou would probably beat me in tennis, Enid. I can never get my balls low >:)

Helen and KK, gardening is very popular here as well. I'm learning it. I got two pots with strawberry and spinach. Hehe, very naughty man!
