Happy Halloween!

Thanks for all the readers entering the Steamy Darcy Halloween contest at Romance Junkies Blog. This is the short story from the contest. Happy reading!

Having My Baby Again - Halloween short story (mature audience only)

Driving into the heavy fog I spotted some light coming from a run down farm house but as I got closer the lights looked like they were flickering in an odd way.

I did not give it another thought but suddenly a wisp of black shadow ran across the road.

My eyes widened. Was that a cat or a man?

I stepped on the brake hard, not wanting to hit it. The car skidded on the slippery road and I grabbed the wheel tight.

Damn!

The car swirled further, grazed a tree and with a bump and a squeak, it came to a sudden stop.

I breathed out a sign of relief. At least it didn’t crash.

I opened the door and inspected the car. The left front bumper was trashed and the tyre was totally flat.

Now what?

I took out my mobile and tried the road service. No signal!

Damn my luck.

I took my bag and wished I had brought my jacket. It’s Halloween and I was wearing a witch’s costume. It came with an extremely short garter skirt with moon and star appliqué, bustier, shrug and hat. The sexy fishnets that covered the length of my thighs did not give any warmth. I walked in a brisk pace towards the old farm house. The fog was still heavy. The air was damp, moist and cold.

As I walked nearer, I could see that the lights were indeed switching on and off in a peculiar way.

I stopped and looked at the farm house with concentration. The windows were dark and each flicker of the lights looked like a number.

5, 17, 15, 7, 22, 17, 15, 7, 14, 11, 11, 27

After several minutes of staring, I still couldn’t understand what it was all about. It was cold. So I continued to walk on, hoping to get help.

When I reached the door, I could see that it was a very magnificent ancient looking house. There were beautiful trees, pasture and creek surrounding it. The two story house seemed to be designed and constructed with an artist’s touch. It stood tall, probably with high ceilings.

I ran my hand on the stunning wooden door.

Pemberley!

What a lovely name. I knocked on the door. The metal doorknob clinked and the sound echoed in the quiet night.

I waited but no one came to the door. Surely with the lights on, there must be someone at home. I called out, “Hello, is anyone here?”

I walked around and came to a huge room on the ground level with floor to ceiling windows. I stuck my face nearer to see into it and it was at that moment I saw a reflection above my face, right next to my witch’s hat.

It was the face of a tall man with ugly red scars, like he had been burnt by the fires of hell.

He raised his hand and I suddenly thought him to be a devil.

I let out a scream and fainted.

When I opened my eyes again, I saw two pairs of eyes looking at me anxiously. I was lying on a bed. There was music coming from some other distance room.

“Kane Fitzwilliam here, sorry Darcy gave you a scare.” A middle aged man with short blond hair smiled and gave me a glass of water.

I sat up, had a sip and put it down. “I’m Elizabeth Bennet. My car has a flat tyre.” I looked at the other man curiously. He was tall, dark and very handsome. But he looked fearsome with a frown.

“William Darcy. Sorry about what just happened.” He mumbled and then moved away to stand in front of the window.

“Come on Darcy. Apologise properly. You nearly caused the lady a heart attack.”

Mr. Darcy turned back. He tilted his head to Kane.

“Oh, excuse me. I need to see to our guests. We are having a Halloween party. Will you stay?” Kane asked.

“I was on my way to a party too. My friends will be worried about me.” I said.

“I don’t think you can fix your car tonight. You can ring your friends and tell them you are at another party. You’ll enjoy it.” Kane gave me a wink, another smile and left the room.

I wanted to scream at him, begging him not to leave me alone with this Darcy.

Mr. Darcy came to kneel in front of me. He took my hand and raised it to his lips. I felt a shiver down my spine. His mouth was hot and coarse. His eyes burnt into my skin. I wanted to pull away my hand but he held it tight.

“I am really sorry about just now. I was wearing a Halloween mask when you saw me. But you came, my Lizzy.”

“How do you know my nickname?”

He raised the other hand and traced it along my face.

“It’s always like that. I just need to signal my demand to nature, during Halloween.” He whispered.

“Signal your demand? What’s always like that?” I repeated.

“You saw the lights.”

“Yes.”

“Did you not understand the message?”

I shook my head.

He lowered his mouth and captured my lips with a tender kiss. I protested but he deepened it. His wet lips pried mine open and he thrust his tongue into my mouth.

The strong muscle was probing and pushing.

I felt blood cruising around my whole body and I felt my resistance softened. When he sucked my tongue with such a vortex of force, I suddenly saw an image in my mind.

It was him and me. He was wearing a caveat, waist coat and breeches. And I was wearing an empire dress with a daring neckline. He was kissing me passionately as well. But one of his hands was caressing my swollen belly.

“You saw it too?” He said.

“Us?” My eyes widened.

“Yes, you were having my baby.”

I gasped and he lowered his head to kiss me again. Another picture came into my mind. He was wearing a British army uniform this time. It seemed to be in the 1940s. I was again pregnant. Our kiss was as scorching as the last and the present.

Mr. Darcy raised his head and said with a smug smile. “You were having my baby again.”

With that, he started to smooth his hand on my shoulders and devoured the skin on my neck.

What more could I say? We did end up getting married, but not until we had some huge fights about his arrogance for interfering with my sister Jane and a certain man called Wickham.

Yes, Mr. Darcy and his Lizzy still ended up together, no matter the time.

Oh, and did you understand Mr. Darcy’s message?

The End
