“Miss Caroline Bingley, according to the accounts by the eyewitnesses, you were seen attacking your sister Mrs. Herbert Hurst and then Mrs. Fitzwilliam Darcy at the guest chamber of Errington at around four in the afternoon today. What do you have to say about it?”
Miss Bingley started sobbing. “Pray forgive me. I did not intend to hurt my dear sister and dear Mrs. Darcy. It must be the herb tea. It made me do some crazy things.”
The magistrate motioned for Mrs. Thompson to dap dry Miss Bingley’s eyes, as the prisoner’s hands were still tied to the chair.
“What herb tea? Who prepared it for you?”
Darcy had a feeling what Miss Bingley would say.
“My sister, Louisa, prepared the tea, right before Mr. Darcy’s party had an accident outside Errington estate. My sister, her husband and I were having tea. Louisa poured it.”
“Mrs. Thompson, can you confirm that?” The magistrate asked.
“Yes, the temporary master and mistress and Miss Bingley were having tea at that time.”
Darcy noticed a tiny smile on Miss Bingley’s face when Magistrate Bates turned to talk to Mrs. Thompson. Almost immediately, the prisoner schooled her face to that of an innocent victim.
“And this special tea makes you do strange things?”
“It must be. I would not normally act that crazy. My sister has been consulting many apothecaries for some years. You see, she has been trying to be with child. I warn her that the latest one is most irregular. She acted very strangely in the past few months. Sometimes angry, sometimes sad, sometimes laughing, sometimes murmuring to herself. It must be the herb tea that she takes. Her husband and I asked her not to take it, but she refused.”
“If you are aware of such a danger, why did you take the tea?”
“I saw Louisa prepare it. I thought it was for herself. She must have switched her cup with mine. I would never have taken it willingly!”
Darcy’s lips tightened. This Miss Bingley’s performance was compelling. She was laying all the blame on her sister who was conveniently made unconscious by her.

“Your mind is so brilliant,” Darcy murmured and squeezed Elizabeth’s hand. She replied a thank you. Elizabeth felt the intensity of his gaze. She felt lucky that her husband included her in discussion with the Colonel and the Captain and did not resent her quick mind. Elizabeth would feel stifled if she was married to someone who did not respect her intelligence. One thing came of this whole sad business with Jane was that she sought Mr. Darcy’s help and ended up married to him. He was nothing like Elizabeth had initially thought. He was the best man she had known. Her heart beat faster, and she had an urge to lean over to kiss him on the mouth. Elizabeth blushed about having such unruly thoughts. Rather than examining her feeling, she darted her eyes to look at the books in the library and tried to think about Jane. Mr. Bennet was out visiting bookshops, or they would not have the library to themselves. Elizabeth’s eyes landed on a map of England hanging on one of the walls.

“Do you think we can stage an accidental meeting to come across the Hursts at Cheshunt?” She asked.

“You want to interrogate Mrs. Hurst there?” Mr. Darcy sounded surprised.

Elizabeth turned her head back to him and said, “as you said, you do not think they have murderous intent on us. I would like to know more about Miss Bingley as quickly as possible. We could bring one or two footmen, to guard us.”

Her husband pondered for a few minutes. “That is possible, my dear, provided Mr. Hurst and Miss Bingley venture out of the estate of Lord Allen’s friend. Cheshunt is about 17 miles from London. We could be there with a fast team of horse slightly over two hours. If we are delayed in returning, we can stay for a night in one of the good Inn on the way back. I shall need to ask Georgiana be hostess for your family.”
Thank you for your patience.

Chapter 16

Darcy knocked on the door of the mistress chamber.

“Come in,” Elizabeth spoke in a soft voice.

When Darcy entered, he saw that she was standing, by the
windows, looking out at the garden at the back of the house. She was in her
green dressing gown and robe, with her hair down. The robe was in superb
material and accentuated her form. The candlelight flickered, enveloping her in
an air of mysterious enticement.

He walked and stood by her side, breathing in her sweet
lavender scent and waited for her to speak.

“I am worried about Jane,” she sighed.

He wanted to scoop her up and take her to bed, to smooth
away her worries and comfort her to sleep. But the way she uttered the words
made him wait for her to express more. He chose to take her hand and squeezed
it.

“I wish all of them, the Bingleys, the Hursts, even Father,
Mary and Jane, would go away, back to the North or Hertfordshire, and leave us
alone. Am I the most wicked person to think so?”

Darcy welcomed such a situation as well, he thought. He could
then spend at least a month of solitude to court and build up a better
relationship with Elizabeth. However, that could not be. “I wish to spend our
times as a normal couple as much as you.”

“But?”

“But, just like any problem, if we do not face and resolve
it sooner, it may get even bigger.”

Elizabeth sighed again. “I know. I have enough indolent
example from Father, in his daily dealing of the estate.” She squared her
shoulders and turned her head to look at him. “I shall be strong. May I
apologize to you again, Fitzwilliam?”

“I apologize as well.”

“No, I think I owe you a bigger apology.”

“I do not think we can measure the size of an apology.”

“I mean I should never have used the horrible words I had
uttered at Hunsford to yell at you. You have proven to me that you are not what
I thought who you were. You are considerate to me, my dreadful family, and
everyone in your employ. You are so much better than Mr. Bingley, my Father and
many men I have known.”

“I should have told you I was going to Whitechapel and the
reason.”

“I want to be your true partner in life.”

“I would love that as well. Elizabeth, I promise you I will
always respect you and consult you as often as possible on all related issues.
Pray remind me should I forget that.”

Elizabeth’s lips curled up slightly. “I have your permission
to yell at you at any time?”

“Maybe not in front of others.”

“I shall remember that.”

“And not using the words at Hunsford.”

“Any more conditions, my dear husband?”

Darcy pretended to think hard for a moment and then shook
his head. “Those are my conditions for your screeching.”

“I do not know how to screech!”

“Shrieking?”

“Not at all. Shrieking is Mother’s specialty. I only
chastise my forgetful husband.”

“I am still in the prime of my health and have a vivid
memory, especially with everything concerning my wonderful wife.”

“Your wife is tired now, Mr. Prime Darcy.”

“No nickname please, Elizabeth. I cannot abide them. Should
we sit?”

Elizabeth turned to look at him for a long moment, as if
debating a grave issue in her mind. “Am I too bold, to suggest we rest, on your
bed?” She whispered.

She felt hot and flustered, as if she were intruding on the couple’s most private moments. She wanted to end the session, but her hands might as well have been glued to the crystal ball. She did not understand why she could not take her hands away.

She then saw the man press the woman to the side of the bathtub, her face away from him. He raised his body slightly and she could see a birthmark on the back of his waist, near the spine. It was heart shaped.

She watched him move in slow motion, as if he was riding… riding the woman! Claire’s breath became shallow. She was shocked and mortified to witness this intimate coupling. She did not know couples could make love in a bath and that a man could ride a woman in that fashion from behind. She tried to pull her hands away from the crystal ball, but they would not move.

The muscles on his back rippled during the motion. His big body covered the petite shape of the woman. One of his hands entwined with hers on the edge of the bath while the other was dipped into the water, out of Claire’s vision, doing lord knows what. - you can continue reading from ClairvoyeurEnid Wilsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12248877161249788607noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7385780907200096211.post-3172667795585671022015-03-17T23:34:00.000+11:002015-03-17T23:34:00.281+11:00Dressed to killAn old post - Some romance stories are so predictable. When the heroine has a date, she will go shopping for frock. Yuck, can the authors be more original? Or is it the media which makes us obsessed with dressing for a date?
Insufferable man! She ignored him and looked at the contents. Chocolate, capsicum salsa, Camembert, celery stems, carrots, cucumbers, etc., etc. They all seemed to have passed their expiration dates. Mrs. Hurst apparently hadn’t bothered to ask the servants to clear out her late husband’s things.
Closing the fridge, she walked to the last row of shelves and examined the books on each level. Prince Darcy followed her closely. When her eyes scanned the top, he scanned the top level as well. When she browsed the middle level, he did the same. Most of the books were not arranged in any order. They had been crammed in randomly.

Elizabeth folded her arms across her chest. She didn’t like someone underfoot, even if he was a handsome prince. “Don’t you have some business to attend to? You can leave me here for half an hour.”

“I’m quite at leisure this weekend. And I’m monitoring your work, for Bingley’s sake.”

The nerve on her neck throbbed. She could be sarcastic too. “Is your job real, in Standard General?”

“Very real. My team has to predict shares performance every quarter and seven out of ten, we get them wrong.” His mouth curled up slightly.

Was the prince trying to flirt with her? “Why do you need it? You’ll be inheriting the throne one day.”

It also instils fear and pain to the person being bound, and gives control and satisfaction to the person who masters the binding. Madam, try to imagine that this handsome Mister has offended you. Think of the revenge you want to mete out to him. How you want him suffer? How you want to dominate him?”

As Miku continued her coaching, Darcy felt the knots tighten further around his hands and arms. From the several mirrors positioned in the room, he could see Elizabeth’s facial expression. She was biting her lips, concentrating on perfecting the knots, but her frown intensified, turning her face to thunder. What had he done to make her so angry with him? His mind went through their acquaintance again, and he felt he was the wronged person in the relationship, not her. She had to be the one who had lashed at him while he had been unconscious, the one who had sold the photo to the tabloid. He couldn’t be wrong. He gritted his teeth to bear the pain, and wouldn’t allow her to hear a word of weakness uttered by him. - You can continue reading from The Angel Sees Grey
Sometimes I feel the words are too cheesy, other times too emotional. I guess as a new romantic writer, I should learn more about this art, of talking about love.

Here are a few from my books. How do you think I fare? Of course, you can see some of them are borrowed/inspired by Jane Austen's words.

She thought of his love with a deeper sentiment of gratitude than she had ever felt before; she remembered his gentlemanly ways, his warmth, and the caring manner that softened the stiff, reserved way in which he had expressed himself in times past.

She was thankful for the strength of his love, a love which defied his own will, persisting against his reason and perhaps even against his character. She was grateful to him, not merely for having once loved her, but for loving her still. - Bargain with the Devil

She and she alone made him feel complete. - Really Angelic

I can never figure out Jane Bennet. She's too nice. She thinks too well of people.

Many JAFF writers have a go at her. She was murdered in one spin-off, with Bingley as the killer. In other spin-offs, she was often paired off with Colonel Fitzwilliam. Sometimes, she was sacrificed and became Mrs. Collins.

For someone five times as pretty as other women in the room, Jane Bennet seems to be one of the most under-developed characters in Pride and Prejudice.

I haven't read Harlequin's sexy romance for a while, since I've been immersed in Pride and Prejudice fan fiction for the past two years. Yesterday I picked up one from an author I usually like. Guess what? The super rich hero (the boss) actually had sex with bimbo twins and the next day, he asked the heroine (the Personal Assistant) to take them out for shopping.

I switched off immediately. For the villains and others, multiple partners are ok. But I like my hero with...hero's character.Enid Wilsonhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12248877161249788607noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7385780907200096211.post-46105132288645328482015-01-31T17:16:00.000+11:002015-02-08T17:58:29.586+11:00Mr. Darcy Runs Into the Woods - Regency, NC-17Thanks to my Facebook friends for suggesting the highlighted words. I wanted to write the story in Regency era so I had to check that liver pudding, Clarinet and Sir Newton were all "available" then. I had a wonderful time reading about them. The following story is longer than a drabble but it includes all the words. Happy Reading! It's unbeta'd.

Darcy reined in the horse by the lake. The mid day sun made the already very hot day unbearable. He jumped from the horse and decided to cool himself in the pond. Pulling the cravat loose, he dived into the pond, disturbing the peaceful and tranquil water. The cool water was refreshing. He swam for almost half an hour until an apparition parted the tall grass by the pond and disturbed his relaxation.

“Elizabeth…” He uttered her name breathlessly. In a pure white day dress and with ribbons fringing the straw hat, Elizabeth emerged through the woods like a fairy. He was fascinated by her appearance, with some unruly curls framing her smiling face which was brightened by the exercise.

“Mr. Darcy, I thought you would be here.”

“How could you possibly have guessed?”

“I can sketch your character quite easily.” She then curtsied and beckoned him to follow her, with a secretive smile. “If you please, sir.”

Darcy’s heart raced. He immediately swam to the shallow end of the pond, climbed up to race after Elizabeth who had started to run into the woods. He hurried along without care to his dripping wet body.

By the time he caught up with Elizabeth, she was sitting on a blanket on the grass. The mysterious tunes of Mozart flew through the Clarinet she was playing, adding a sense of suspense and disbelief to the surrounding.

Darcy lowered himself to occupy a corner of the blanket, stretching his long legs, with his head on his hand, staring sideways at Elizabeth intensely. As the mystic sounds took a more comic turn, she crooked her head to motion him to look around. He finally saw a basket on the blanket.

He raised and had a quick look. The basket was full of sumptuous food. How very thoughtful of her, he smiled. After the long ride and the energetic swim, Darcy did felt hungry. Quietly, he bit into a small liver pudding, the rich juicy taste filled his stomach. As he enjoyed the refreshing flesh of peach and a glass of tea with ice, Elizabeth started singing a most seductive aria.

Suddenly Darcy had a hunger of different kind. Not satisfied with only admiring Elizabeth’s creamy chest that rose and fell with the rhythm of the song, he left the gourmet food aside and moved near her silently.

The closer he leaned to her, the shakier was her voice. Her eyes however never broke contact with his. She continued to sing, stirring up his desire. As he caressed her neck with his fingers, her pitch raised slightly. When his fingers slid down the creamy mounds to her breasts, she gasped and missed a beat. Her nipples peaked, clearly visual through the fabric of her dress. She stopped singing mid sentence, as he grabbled the twin peaks.

“Welcome…home, my dear…husband!” Elizabeth uttered the words breathlessly, before pressing a hot kiss on Darcy’s mouth.

The woods were now silent except for the sounds of birds and Darcy and Elizabeth’s panting.

“I would not mind going to London on business if that is the way every time I am welcome home.”

Elizabeth tore off Darcy’s wet shirt quickly, without bothering to reply. When her hands frantically rub over his hard back, he pulled up her hem and settled between the comfort of her legs. He bestowed hot kisses on her shoulders, brushing away the dress to expose her creamy mounds. Her fingers became more urgent as she undid the buttons on his breeches.

Soon, she freed his proud manhood from the constraint of the trousers and palmed it. Panting hard, Darcy shifted to poise at her wet entrance.

“My love,” he whispered.

“I miss you,” she replied.

Darcy gazed at the depth of Elizabeth’s eyes and thrust his hard shaft into her core. Her welcoming heat and tightness embraced his body. He let the pant up passion of the past two weeks to run wild. Like an untamed stallion, he galloped in full speed, empowering intensity and dazed abandons, until Elizabeth screamed out in ecstasy as she reached her peak. He then thrust more deeply into her for a few more times, before he trembled and convulsed for his own climax.

The woods turned silence again. Even the birds had stopped singing. Darcy rolled away from Elizabeth and looked up at the sky. It was good to be home. Even the sky at Pemberley looked friendlier than London. The trees looked greener and better too.

Pop!

Darcy made a sound of burp as an apple dropped from the tree and hit his stomach.

“Oops, the trees are not friendlier than those in London!” he exclaimed as he rubbed his abdomen. Luckily it was not a large apple and he was not seriously hurt.

Elizabeth emerged from the haze of lovemaking and burst out laughing on seeing her husband’s petulant expression. “Ah, fate gives you an comeuppance for your neglect in sending me a love letter every day during your absence!”

“Nonsense, the dropping of the apple is entirely natural, according to our former Cambridge scholar, Sir Newton. This is called theory of gravity.”

Elizabeth raised her eyebrows at him. “I did not know that you are a man of science, Mr. Darcy.”

“I am indeed very interested in science, in particular, the biology of my wife’s body!”
With that, he spent the entire afternoon in the woods exploring and examining the lovely being called Elizabeth.

Mr Darcy blinked his eyes open and observed the lovely picture on the bed by his side. Elizabeth was cradling two-month old Alexander on her arms.
He hated to disturb the harmonious picture of Madonna and her child. Quietly he rose and moved to sit on the chair by the bed, thinking about the day ahead.

It would be St. Valentine’s Day in two weeks’ time. One of the traditions was to write one’s lover a letter, expressing love, admiration and devotion. However Darcy was never a man of many words. He pondered what gift he could procure for his wife.
Admiring the alluring form of Elizabeth and their adorable son, a sudden inspiration came to his mind. With an energetic leap from the chair, Darcy walked to his desk by the windows and found what he needed.

As he concentrated on his work for almost half an hour, he did not notice that Elizabeth had woken.

“My dear Mr Darcy, are you always this diligent? Attending to your business correspondence without a stitch of clothes on, how improper!” She arched her eyebrows as she focussed on her husband’s nude body.

“I am trying to capture Alexander and your likeness, to present the picture to you on St. Valentine’s Day as a gift. Pray do not disturb my work.” Darcy spoke with a dismissive wave of his hand.

The arrogant gesture spurred his wife into rash action. Elizabeth left Alexander on the bed and moved swiftly to kneel in front of Mr. Darcy.

“What are you doing?” His body froze and his voice shook.

“I am determined to disturb your work, my arrogant husband!” She lowered her head and licked the heat at the apex of his thighs. Loud groans and moans echoed in the master chambers until Alexander was woken.

Well, what could we say about Mr. Darcy’s gift for St. Valentine’s Day? He never finished the drawing and bought his wife an unimaginative large diamond necklace instead.

I love to read Jane Austen variations and I've just read a wonderful story over at Derbyshire Writers Guild.

Elizabeth Bennet in Pride and Prejudice was struck by tragedy in Seen and Unseen by Kim B. It was amazing to read how she could overcome her infliction and won Mr. Darcy's love.

I hope Kim would one day complete the story. The story is over 280,000 words already, so definitely well worth reading. Here is the link for Seen and Unseen. Happy Reading!
